What to expect

Join me on this journey to the places of Caravaggio’s life and art. Through the meandering alleys of the city center, we will retrace the stages that have marked his pictorial experience and his troubled life. Talented and restless, revolutionary and violent, Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio realizes in Rome the most complete synthesis of his artistic genius. I will show you documents that will guide us in identifying the places of his life and we will visit churches where his works have left an indelible mark.

Discover the places where he stayed, guest of Cardinals and Marquises; walk in squares and alleys that have shaped his imagination to serve as inspiration for his works. Wander through the streets of Campus Martius, almost the same as that lived by Caravaggio, scenario of his and his friends raids. Learn about his restless character, his quarrels, duels, clashes with the police, imprisonment, until the murder that will take him away from the capital and will let his descending parable begin, his wandering up and down Italy waiting for the forgiveness of the Pope which will arrive shortly before his death in the coast of Tuscany.
